Eccl. 9:9
Live joyfully with the wife whom thou lovest all the days of the life of thy vanity, which he hath given thee under the sun, all the days of thy vanity: for that is thy portion in this life, and in thy labour which thou takest under the sun.
The first things any child of God who intends to make a success of a relationship or marriage needs to know is that although certain qualities like beauty, talent, entrepreneurship, etc, are very good, however because they are not necessarily essentials in the mathematics of a good marriage, they are therefore only given in portions.
There is such a thing as portions given by God. The rich have their portion, the poor have theirs, so also do the great and the common in life.
Isa. 53:12
Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong;...
In God's equation for marriage, everyone can only have a portion, no one can have it all. Your portion will include some things but definitely not everything. You cannot have a dark and a fair face in one person, and if you are dark but chose to become fair, by bleaching, you then must lose your dark beauty, but you can't have both, and why? You can only have either as your portion.
Hence, one woman may be an excellent business manager, but may be poor in hospitality and home keeping, hence, such may have problems being a good hostess to your guests when they come visiting.
Some men may admire the way a woman receives, chats and talks with guests, her confidence and range of knowledge on sports or political issues may be unbelievable, surprisingly, she may not know how to cook at all or may lack good manners. The failure to understand this issue of portion, may make a man erode all the good marks of a woman like this if she was his wife.
For this reason, you must stop envying other women or men, in fact, if you look carefully well, you will discover that everyone's portion, including yours, has its strong points as well as its weak.
Every woman has some beauty about her, a particular power of attraction. There is nobody who is not beautiful and lacking at the same time in one way or the other, so never think your spouse is not as beautiful, in fact, her small nose or full lips are deliberate by God. If she is short, being short is beautiful, if he is black, same goes, etc.
It does not matter what your portion is like, whatever he/she's like, God made him/her that way. So accept your portion, admire what's yours, and know that it may be irremediable to attempt to forcefully change your portion or alter any part of your bodies to be like the other person, because regardless of whatever shortcomings you discover in your spouse, God expects you to not only be content with it, but to live joyfully with it all the days of the life of thy vanity, understanding that that is your portion.
Don't be deceived by what you think you are seeing, it wont be long before you find out like your portion, that that stranger also has its weak points and not just the strong points put forward.
So the bottom-line is; you can't have it all, therefore the bible admonishes you to accept your portion and enjoy it, that is the way God intended it to be. Do not reach out for somebody's portion, because everyone is entitled to only a certain portion.
