TOOLS OF ATTRACTION (Part 1)

Prov. 31:30
Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
As wonderful and important as favour and beauty are to effortlessly accessing and getting the good things of life, scripture says when placed side by side certain other virtues like the fear of God, they are nothing. To therefore focus your life on achieving your quest or getting your heart desires through your beauty or connection (favour) ONLY other than by the ways, pattern and divine order will amount to vanity.
Unknown to most people, ladies especially, this is all they have been trained and used to for surviving. From academic success to money, to getting attention or their needs met, to starting and keeping a relationship or having their way with people, they know no other way other than the way of connection and beauty. Sadly, this is the tool some use in running their marriages.
Why sweat the stuff? Why suffering to read just to pass an examination? Why work so hard to get a promotion if I can get it by simply using my connection or using my face and body power?. What is the use of my beauty if I cannot use it? My face, my smiles, my shape and my beauty are my weapons o. All I need is see Mr so and so or do some serious packaging and I can never be resisted by any man.
This was the same thing Jezebel said or thought to use to woo Jehu when God sent him to kill her. Unknown to her, beauty sometimes can be charming and favour magical, but when they come face to face with realities of life, with life's battles, when confronted with sickness, witches, pain, anger and the wickedness of life, they fall flat on their faces.
2Kgs. 9:30 -33
And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it; and she painted her face, and tired her head, and looked out at a window. And as Jehu entered in at the gate.., he lifted up his face to the window, and said..., Throw her down. So they threw her down: and some of her blood was sprinkled on the wall, and on the horses: and he trode her under foot.
Why use beauty or connection to face life's battles when you have something more dependable. Will you be beautiful forever, take a look at pictures of some beautiful slay mama's 50 years back to what you see now, and you will pity beauty. What about those in Nigerian government yesterday who had all the connections, where are they today.
Why allow your clothes, body or face or who you know to determine your worth. Some people feel MORE OR LESS on account of the cloth, hairdo or the kind of make up they wear. Don't let THINGS determine your worth, let your VALUES (God's life and word in you) determine your worth. Don't let a CAR be your power of attraction this year. MERCEDES, HONDA, TOYOTA are all names of humans like you. So you too, determine to make a name too this year. Let your world also appreciate your person via your work and contribution and not just your beauty. Let people respect you for who you are and not just because of your face, car or phone. You carry something greater than any car or cloth, so don't let a shirt give you value, you be the one giving your shirt value.
As important as it is to pray for or desire to be favoured this year and as wonderful as it may seem to be beautiful or invest more to enhance your beauty, ensure you don't arm yourself with these tools ALONE as you begin the year's journey. They indeed have their merits but can't be depended upon.
Prov. 1:7 tells us;
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction. Then Prov. 15:33 says;
The fear of the Lord is the instruction of wisdom; Again, Isa. 33:6 says;
And wisdom and knowledge shall be
the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation:
Adding these up, you'll see that "The FEAR of God is both Knowledge and Wisdom and both are tools needed for STABILITY and STRENGTH, then where does it leave FAVOUR and BEAUTY they must indeed be deceitful and vain, when it comes to tools for building anything that will be lasting.
Rather than invest or indulge yourself this year in enhancing your face, your hair, your nails, shape or fashion, which has never and can never make or keep a job, marriage or home, why not pursue the fear of God, by seeking and finding wisdom through READING, LEARNING, PAYING ATTENTION TO INSTRUCTIONS AND CORRECTIONS, why not yield your flesh and subject yourself more to the scratching, peeling, purging and MAKE UP (REBUKE/TRAINING) of the Spirit, rather than waste your time and yourself on lesser values.
If you spend more time this year on the lesser tools of attraction, then you can be sure to spend this year in pursuit of vanity, seeking but never finding the things you want from 2018.
Prov. 24:14
So shall the knowledge of wisdom be unto thy soul: when thou hast found it, then there shall be a reward, and thy expectation shall not be cut off.
POINT OF MEDITATION
1. Give 7 examples of what can be termed vanity as it relates to beauty.
2. What exactly can be the problem with living a life basically or only on favour since favour is good
(People falling for the lesser tools of attraction)

- The agony of slay mamas.
- What determines your true worth.
- The right things to invest or indulge.
