A man shall be commended according to his wisdom: but he that is of a perverse heart shall be despised.
Having dealt extensively with various wrong tools people apply for the
purpose of getting attention and gaining attraction, (See the parts 3 of Tools of Attraction) Today's devotional opens us to one
of the most effective tools of attraction. The tool of INTELLIGENCE.
Our world is changing so quickly, several things that used to matter,
doesn't seem to any longer. Values are fast eroding, people are becoming
more exposed, with the advent of technology and the social media, more
and more people are becoming more informed.
Before now, one major tool of attraction that the world celebrated was
beauty. Those endowed with good faces knew it was a great asset, the
world dropped at the feet of such gorgeous folks, they went by the name;
Miss this and Miss that, they enrolled for beauty pageant competitions
and those with the finest looks, shape, height and smile stole the heart
and affection of their audience.
But the story is different today. The world has come to the realization
that beauty without brains and character is nothing but an accidental
discharge. Hence after the test of faces, the organizers of today's
pageant shows now take all these faces through the real attraction test,
they ask them questions to ensure their brains or intelligence can
match up with their faces.
Next is the character test. The world no longer crowns anyone as a
beauty queen only on account of face or even brains. They know better
now that face and brains minus character is like humanity devoid of
divinity and this is nothing but bestiality. Face plus brains minus
character, ability to be homely, hospitable, kind, tender hearten,
forgiving, enduring and above all RESPECTFUL, will sooner or later, open
the door of exit in any relationship, marriage or contract to that door
that beauty and brains had opened earlier.
This is why these organizers added a TV reality show segment, where they
bunch all contestants together to further test their ability to adapt
aside their faces and brains. Sadly, it is at this point that many
beautiful faces and brains fail and are evicted from the contest. Their
inability to match their faces to their character betrayed their faces
and underrated their brains and consequently their smiles, as these
leave with tears covering their fine faces.
Nothing attracts or repels like character and believe it or not, if you
lack it, you can't pretend about it, it's not something you can hide.
While it's possible to cover up your pimples, scars, stretch marks,
tattoos, etc, with your make up, you definitely can't do that about your
character, no, you can't hide who you really are.
Prov. 27:19 says:
As in water face reflects face, so the heart of man reflects the man.
Now, while you may be thinking your character flaws are concealed, the
fellow you are trying to woo with your face or your cover up, you'll be
surprised, knows you. Listen, like attracts. That fellow most likely is
exactly like you. Remember Prov. 27:19; "...So the heart of man to man".
He or she may just very well be playing along with you, till when they
are ready to ditch you. I made this elaborately clear in my book; 7

fool some people sometimes but you can't fool everybody every time.
Don't be deceived CHARACTER is a very KEY TOOL both in attracting and
keeping affection, love, marriage or even business. Have you ever
wondered why most guys enjoy going out with happening babes but when
they want to marry, they go look for a home girl with deeper life
character? They say things like; "I no want woman wey her eyes don
tear". Truth is, no lady wants a body of steel (nice physic) only for a
husband, equally, no man wants to marry a spoilt but nicely covered face
because when reality of life comes knocking, the face and muscles only
prove their vanity. believe me, a bad character is just something no one
wants to live with.
Prov. 27:15 tells us;
A continual dripping on a rainy day and a quarrelsome wife are alike; to
restrain her is to restrain the wind or to grasp oil in one's right
hand.
Characters like; HUMILITY, SACRIFICE, HOMELINESS, RESPECT, CARE,
SUPPORT, KINDNESS, FORGIVENESS, etc, are not only affectionate when it
comes to relationship and marriage but actually makes the carriers both
attractive and magnetic to their world.
So intentionally work on your character this year. Watch those areas of
your life where people always make indecorous (indecent) comments and
work on them. If you can, stop the huge investment and effort you put on
your face, hair, nails and for the men, your clothes and indulgences
and put that same effort on your character, it won't be long before what
you've been chasing for so long starts chasing you.

1. Identify and write down 3 habits that you know you need to work on this year and how you hope to change them.
2. State 3 areas you know you have invested so much in but shouldn't have and that you look forward to addressing this year
