Heb. 6:1-3
Therefore let us leave the elementary doctrine of Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again a foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God, and of instruction about washings, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. And this we will do if God permits.
Believe it or not, God has a school for his own children which after salvation, they are enrolled into and attend daily for spiritual training, development of godly character and for earthly fortification and survival, whether they know it or not. Again, God not only has a school for his children but like every responsible parent, he both desires as well as ensures that his kids not only go through it but that they FINISH and COME OUT (LEAVE) with excellence.
Did you know Jesus also attended this school himself; in John 7:14-15, the Jews marveled at Jesus' literacy when he never went to the existing schools of the day;
"Now about the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and taught. And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned?
What they did not know is that aside their conventional schools, God also has a school for his own children.
Isa. 50:4
The Lord God hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning,
he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.
Although several things are similar in God's school to that of our conventional school, the following are ways in which God's school differs from ours;
1. Unlike our earthly conventional school however where it is possible to graduate to a higher class, given several considerations like; parental or self recognition, wealth, family status, tribe, (Geo political Zones) favoritism, health reasons, pity, etc, in God's school, there is no such consideration, neither is there leaving any class until you properly finish (pass the test of) that class, and painfully, God himself sets and oversees our tests.
2. It is daily; ...he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.
Isa. 50:4. No break, no holiday.
3. If you keep failing one test, you will never move on, (be promoted to maturity) till you pass that one test.
4. In this school, God uses human's, adverse situations and challenges of life as your test. A bad marriage or spouse, could be your test, your pastor, parents, unemployment, sickness, wicked leader, etc are lab tools God uses train us.
1Pet. 4:12-13; ...do not think it strange at the fiery trial when it comes upon you TO TEST you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice...
5. In God's school, your training can last a lifetime. Israel's schooling in the wilderness lasted forty years.
Dt. 8:2; And you shall remember the whole way that the Lord your God has led you these forty years in the wilderness, that he might humble you, TESTING YOU to know... So instead of complaining about your twelve years of barrenness, your husband's trouble or your wife's disrespect, humble yourself quickly and learn what God wants you to know.
6. You yourself can determine the duration. While a test can last a lifetime, you can shorten yours by submitting quickly. If your test is anger or lust, God will keep using everyone and everything around you to keep doing things that PROVE lust is in you or that SHOW anger in you, and this will continue till you decide to move to the next level by dealing with yourself, your lust, your anger, the earlier you acknowledge it the better for only then can you be said to be ready to have COMPLETED and LEAVE
That test or problem for the next test of life.
7. Again like earthly schools, it is very possible to cut corners, miss classes, use long leg, connection, wealth, beauty or bottom power to graduate yourself to the next level of life, but be sure of one thing, you will never graduate into peace and tranquility, if you doubt ask the prodigal son, when he later came to himself, his testimony was, "I've made a terrible mistake, why did I TAKE, why did I LEAVE, without FINISHING MY TRAINING, NOW, I will GO BACK TO MY FATHER'S SCHOOL and say; I'm not worthy to be called your son for refusing life's classes, PLEASE MAKE ME A SERVANT, NOW I'M READY. Do you know many die never entering their destiny class in life? May you not finish your earthly allotted time, before you embark on heaven's training in Jesus name.
Action Point:
How really ready are you for God's test, remember, your graduation is determined by your readiness to learn and pass that particular test.
