LOVE REVOLUTION

SOS 8:6-7
Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned.

A revolution is a drastic and far reaching change in ways of thinking and behaving. From time to time, we hear or see people carry out a revolution in a state, organisation or society.

But why do people do this? Revolutions take place when people become tired of a system, structure, culture, govt, people or way of life. When people try dialogue, engagement rules, when they hope with expectation or wait in futility for a desire that seems to continue to elude them, then they call for a revolution.

It has become obvious that our world is getting tired and sick of the mirage called love, because it has offered nothing but a continued failing and hurting of those who have dared to venture it. "My love for her is dead" is a very popular statement today and the reason for most divorces, breakage in relationships, single parenting and consequently, the belief today that true love is an elusion, or that it no longer exists today. Many are weary of the romantic love ideology, as to how it only exist in movies but never in true life. On days like Valentines day, rather than enjoy love, many return empty; illusion, pain, a sudden dawning and a demoralizing feeling is what always usually follow the excitement and momentary pleasures that this love brings with it, and this over time, has caused many to doubt or boycott being a part of it as they normally do. Hence, the call for a total overhaul of this kind of LOVE.


For those wondering; "why can't this feeling last longer"? Why can't it be forever? It's simply because something is not right, this love needs HELP, it needs a REVOLUTION. We have come to the precipice where we must have something better, if this love we have for so long lived for, cherished and worshipped is not delivering as expected, then we must have something better.

What we call love, is really not love, and that's why we are not getting the deliverables? There's something worth the trouble which we are yet to discover or try? It's something better than what we know presently, something that surpass the thrills our so called failed love offers, it's just that we despise it.

As strong as the claims of romantic love is, according to: SOS. 8:7. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it... It will amaze you that there's a better, more appealing, passionate and affectionate love than romantic love. It is AGAPE LOVE. David described it in 2nd Samuel 1:26 as WONDERFUL LOVE; "I am distressed for thee, my brother Jonathan: very pleasant hast thou been unto me: thy love to me was WONDERFUL, PASSING THE LOVE OF WOMEN". And by Jesus as GREATER LOVE. Jn. 15:13.

The problem is, contrary to the believe of many, this love is GOD'S LOVE and should not be introduced into or side by side romantic love affair. "When it comes to things like romance, Agape should please be left in the church", such beliefs is what has led us to practice love derelict of agape love which robs us of all the joys true love holds. Without agape love, our romantic love has no future, it holds no attraction. It is agape love that adds or allows forgiveness, when romantic love errs, it is that which helps romantic love to continue to believe, when there's no reason to, and to endure the disappointments and provocations of your imperfect partner.

The essence of true love is mutual recognition, two individuals seeing each other as they really are, but romantic love lacks this, it's approach is to meet someone we like and put our best self forward, or even at times a false self, one we believe will be more appealing to the person we want to attract, then when our real self appears in its entirety, the masks are taken away and the core values and issues of life stares us in the face, disappointment comes, and this is the vacuum that agape love fills.

For those who hope for more than mere romance, its time for a love revolution, it is your only guarantee for tomorrow. Dare to take love beyond looks, beyond feelings, beyond your pocket, or your achievements. Follow Agape, it is not only love with boundaries, which we don't like but a love that loves you in-spite of who you are. It is love according to God's word and regulations, and the fuel that keeps you loving, long after the looks, the money and the kisses are all gone. May you receive this love in Jesus name.
