When Abigail saw David, she hurried and got down from the donkey and fell before David on her face and bowed to the ground. She fell at his feet and said, “On me alone, my lord, be the guilt. Please let your servant speak in your ears, and hear the words of your servant. Let not my lord regard this worthless fellow, Nabal, for as his name is, so is he. Nabal is his name, and folly is with him. But I your servant did not see the young men of my lord, whom you sent.
Every woman is in a man's life to influence him positively and not otherwise. There's something about women, something that almost can make them inspire or influence their men and others that they come in contact with, strangely, even much more than the Holy Spirit can do. This power was put in them by God and it lies in several hidden places such as their minds, their lips, (words), their body, waist, hip, breast and even their hands. Although most women are ignorant of this, those who do, have been trained by this world only to use these powers for wrong purposes.
This powerful female effect was first seen in the life of our first parents, Adam and Eve. As soon as Adam saw Eve, he didn't need the supernatural to get into the prophetic, something about his woman naturally pepped up the prophetic. Such is a woman's power to bring out the spiritual out of any carnal man or a king out of any fool, if she wants.
From our text it is clear from the words of Abigail that her husband was truly a FOOL; no doubt, Nabal may really be a fool but whatever had brought Abigail to Nabal as his wife had made him NOW as far as she was concerned HER OWN PRECIOUS FOOL. Whatever she did with him after now will determine what she got from him. So rather than call him names, rail at him, disgrace him, etc, she was poised to make a king out of her fool, because she realized, once you make an entry into the marriage world, whatever you find after the vow is YOUR PORTION, again, whatever name you call your dog is how it would act; so rather than relate with him like most women would, as the fool that he was, she made a king out of her fool.
We were told Nabal was very wealthy, but do you know his wealth and success were all Abigail's handwork, ask yourself; how many unreasonable and worthless men do you know that are rich or can manage wealth? In 1Sam. 25:3 and 17, we were told that this man was a worthless man, if this was his status and anything to go by, then there definitely must be someone or another force behind his success, of course, verse 17 reveals this person; his wife. In 1Sam. 25:17; even his servants said; ...know this and consider what you should do, for harm is determined against our master... and he is such a worthless man that one cannot speak to him.” Meaning; "madam, NO ONE CAN SPEAK OR REASON WITH OUR BOSS BESIDES YOU, you are needed once more, because the ONLY ONE who can handle this man, who has the key to his life is YOU".
It will be interesting to find out how Abigail managed her foolish and worthless husband. Rather than fight, quarrel or resist Nabal to make him see his folly or to try change him, she instead as we were told, being a woman of understanding, never pretended about his actions, she indeed told him the truth, however, in love, with all the honour and respect that a king deserves.
1Sam. 25:36-37
And Abigail came to Nabal, and behold, he was holding a feast in his house, like the feast of a king. And Nabal... was very drunk. So she told him nothing at all until the morning light...
Abigail knew that the master of every man is God, so she let Nabal alone for God to deal with him and as we saw, God did a finer job. 1Sam. 25:38; And about ten days later the Lord struck Nabal, and he died.
Abigail means the Joy of a father. She was indeed poised even married to a FOOL to bring God (the father) joy in her home. Too many women are making the mistake of trying to raise their Men but discover it's not working, this is because it takes only a man to raise another man. Stop nagging and trying to manipulate you husband to change, it won't work, change and conviction belongs only to God. If you allow the Holy Spirit to take over like Abigail, He will CONVICT your man of his wrongs. It is not all men that will be won by TALKING,
1 Pet. 3:1 says;
Likewise, wives, be subject to your own husbands, so that even if some do not obey the word, they may be won without a word by the conduct of their wives. Pls note; they may be won without a word, it's time to stop fighting, stop talking and start acting.
Remember what we said earlier about a woman's influence, this was exactly what Abigail used, we witnessed this power of hers when she confronted the mighty David who never lost a war, but was defeated by Abigail's woman power. Abigail used all the resources available, her beauty, brains, mind, lip, (words), her waist and her hands, to charm David as well as make a success of her marriage and also win David's admiration,
hence he could not wait a moment longer after Nabal passed on to make such a woman his wife. There are forces available at every woman's disposal, find your and engage it, IT WORKS!
